The Solarscope makes it easy for individuals or groups to view images of the sun in complete safety. Sunlight is projected onto the wall of a self-contained shadow box, revealing details that cannot be safely viewed with the naked eye. Solarscope is great for studying sunspots, solar eclipses and the transits of Venus and Mercury. There's even a comprehensive user's guide with instructions on tracking the Earth's ever-changing position with regard to the Sun.
The Educational Edition Solarscope includes a separate Education Kit with accessories and projects for the primary, grammar and high school level (or for curious adults), from which the following measurements are possible: * Earth rotational speed
Solarscope Educational Edition (at right) with full instructions and Education Kit The Standard Version Solarscope is designed for use by one or two people, while the larger Educational Edition will accommodate from two to seven people, all in complete safety. You simply place the Solarscope shadow-box structure on a flat surface and by hand-moving, direct the focusing tube at the Sun until its image appears inside the shadow box. Sunlight shines through the focusing tube, striking a reflective mirror-plate, which redirects the solar image into the shadowbox interior, for safe and comfortable viewing. Solarscope Standard Version (see photos below) with full instructions Both versions of the Solarscope are constructed from sturdy colored cardboard, which is labeled with celestial coordinates for various astronomical determinations. The lens and mirror are glass, while mechanical mounts are composed of ABS plastic and aluminum. All Solarscopes come with assembly instructions, folded in a table-game-sized box. Optics are assembled by the customer. Mechanical mounting will be placed and screwed onto the cardboard setting. Assembled Size:
