TRIFIELD BROADBAND ELECTROMAGNETIC POLLUTION METER

Evidence indicates that electric and magnetic fields from high tension wires, CRT computer screens, microwave ovens, and other household appliances increase the risk of certain cancers and other physiological and psychological abnormalities. An average household AC current inside the body of about one billionth of an amp per square centimeter (RMS) seems to be the conservative threshold for biological effects. Based on epidemiological studies, personal exposure to electromagnetic pollution should be avoided if it produces AC currents inside the body higher than the threshold level, of frequencies at or below 1000 cycles per second. An external household appliance magnetic field of 3 milligauss, or an electric field of 2.5 kilovolts/meter will produce approximately that threshold current inside the body.
Find out the levels of exposure in your home environment by accurately measuring the magnitude of the electric and magnetic fields which are present. The TRIFIELD BROADBAND METER is frequency weighted in order to gauge whether the electric current inside the body exceeds danger threshold levels. By reading the true magnitude of a field, the TRIFIELD BROADBAND METER can obtain an accurate reading at any point within a room. The TRIFIELD BROADBAND METER is a more sensitive version of the standard Trifield Meter more widely sold. For a slightly higher price, it detects over a wider range of frequencies.

Find the "hot spots" in your home, office, or neighborhood: these can include poorly grounded internal wiring, computers, electric blankets and heaters, fluorescent lights and dimmers, high voltage transformers, radio broadcasting transmitters, cellular phones and microwave ovens. By measuring the "hot spots" you can move cribs and beds, improve grounding, or take other steps to avoid long- term exposure to high electromagnetic pollution levels.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The selector knob has six positions: OFF, BATTERY TEST, EXTENDED MAGNETIC field, MAGNETIC field, ELECTRIC field, and RADIO/MICROWAVE power density. The meter face is analog (needle type). A needle reading of one-third of full scale corresponds to either 3 milligauss @ 60 Hz, 3 kilovolts/meter @ 60 Hz, or 0.04 mW/cm2 respectively at the magnetic, electric, or radio/microwave settings. Long term personal exposure to levels higher than these should be avoided (based on present knowledge of electromagnetic pollution). Thus, the meter is labeled "HIGH", above this level. The EXTENDED MAGNETIC setting allows very low level magnetic field measurements, and reads 0.6 milligauss at one-third full scale. Full scale detection limits are 2 milligauss, 100 milligauss, 100 kilovolts/meter, and 1 mW/cm2. The Magnetic and Electric field selectors are calibrated for typical 60-cycle power-line frequencies (A 50-cycle version typical for overseas power systems is available upon request), while the Radio/Microwave detector is calibrated for the peak frequencies of home microwave ovens, at 2000 MHz.
Depending on where the knob is set, the meter detects either frequency- weighted magnetic fields (two separate scales), or frequency-weighted electric fields in the ELF and VLF range. It has significant sensitivity at 100,000 Hz, well past the 17,000 Hz horizontal scan of video displays. The radio/microwave setting can detect up to three billion Hz (3 GHz), which lets you gauge radio- wave power, CB and cellular phone equipment, and many types of radars.
The RADIO/MICROWAVE setting on the BROADBAND TRIFIELD METER is more senstive over a wider range of frequencies than the ordinary Trifield Meter which we formerly sold, and is designed as a more general electromagnetic measurement tool. It detects electric fields from power line frequencies (50-60 cps) up through around 3 GHz. This fills in the gap from 100 KHz to 50 MHz, which includes many amateur radio frequencies so that antenna radiation patterns can be measured. The TRIFIELD BROADBAND METER detects powerline electric and magnetic fields and the most common frequencies used in microwave ovens plus a range of frequencies typical of AM/FM and CB/Ham radio broadcasting towers. Aside from this greater bandwidth sensitivity, the TRIFIELD BROADBAND METER is identical in size, weight, appearance and ease of use to the standard model and long-selling Trifield Meter.
The TRIFIELD BROADBAND METER comes with a 9-volt transistor battery and booklet describing the operation and use of the meter in fuller detail.
WARNING: We recently had the opportunity to evaluate one of the so-called "low radiation" computer monitors with the Trifield Meter. We found it to have a strong magnetic and electrical field emission, far in excess of the manufacturer's claims. We therefore warn computer users to make similar evaluations before purchasing any "low radiation" computer monitor. The safest computers are "lap-top" portables with thin-screen, liquid crystal technology (set upon a table-top, and not in your lap, however). They have the lowest emissions of any computers or computer screens we have evaluated. How Do You Know What Exposure Levels Are Safe?
LEGAL DISCLAIMER There is considerable scientific controversy regarding the issue of low-level electromagnetism as from power lines, computers, fluorescent lights, cell phones, Wi-Fi, microwave ovens, cell phone and radio broadcasting towers. The federal government standards are set in accordance with opinions offered by select groups of mainstream scientists with whom the government consults, along with representatives of industry. There also is, however, a considerable minority scientific viewpoint, backed by good evidence, in opposition to those standards. Many ordinary people can also feel and react to levels of EM radiation which are considered "too low to be of concern" by the mainstream opinion. The information you will get from Natural Energy Works represents this minority viewpoint, which we believe is the more accurate one. However, it is your responsibility to make informed decisions and to evaluate both sides of the issue before taking concrete steps about your particular circumstances, such as buying or selling a house, or staying in or moving out of an apartment. A Final Word of Advice on "EM Protection Gadgets": Be aware there are many devices on the market which claim to reduce radiation intensity or eliminate radiation health effects from power line fields, TV sets, cell phones and towers. We have never seen any scientifically-defendible proof of such claims. So long as you can measure the emission fields of such devices, the effects will continue to exist. Remember also, a cell phone will give you a much higher dose of RF energy right near your head than what you might get from even a relatively close cell tower. So if you are concerned about cell phone tower radiation, then you should be 100 times more worried about using a cell phone, or even the portable in-house wireless phones which use a base-station inside the home to connect with your ordinary telephone wire. We suggest, ordinary telephones with a hard-wire work perfectly fine, and are less complicated anyhow. Likewise, a gas-fired or electric stove works just as good as a microwave oven, even better if one considers the subjective taste factor. Ordinary incandenscent bulbs also remain much better for health than the electromagnetically-disturbing fluorescent or "compact fluorescent" bulbs, which put out an unsatisfying dull light in any case. Life continues quite well when we are "unplugged" and get our emails only once a day, or return phone calls hours later, rather than "right away".
